Adopt-A-Road

This program has county-wide involvement and brings citizen volunteers together to promote and provide cleaner roadways. Participants agree to adopt and bi-annually pick up trash along a two-mile stretch of county road.

Trash Hunt

2006 Trash Hunt

On Saturday, March 18, 2006 over 150 volunteers from throughout Cumberland County spent part of their afternoon patrolling our woodlands in a search for trash as part of the Cumberland County Clean Communities 15th Annual Public Lands Cleanup. Volunteer groups cleaned up areas throughout the County including Union Lake Tract, the Peaslee Fish & Wildlife Management Area, the Maurice River Bluffs, the Edward G. Bevan Fish and Wildlife Management Areas, the Mauricetown Preserve, and Peek's Preserve. This year 31.63 tons of trash were collected along with 975 car and truck tires. Over the last 15 years, the Public Lands Cleanup Program has removed nearly over 1.5 million pounds of trash and over 14, 500 tires from our protected woodlands, waterways, and other important areas of the County.
