Boat Shrink Wrap

Boat Shrink Wrap Plus Recycling Program

Plastic shrink wrap is a popular and cost-effective material used by marinas and boat owners to protect boats, personal watercraft and other objects from harsh winter weather conditions and other harmful elements. It does, however, present a serious waste disposal problem, since there are limited recycling options for hundreds of tons of shrink wrap discarded from vessels each spring. Recycling keeps the material out of landfills already nearing capacity and reduces the chance that plastic material will end up in open water creating a marine debris concern.

Below are the shrink wrap locations for Cumberland County. There is no charge at the sites listed below. If material comes to the Solid Waste Complex, the charge will be the same as nursery film, $20.00 per ton. These locations will be operational from April to July. The Solid Waste Complex will be the only site that will collect this material year round.
