What are the guidelines for the disposal of demolition debris at the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex? - Print
  1. Asbestos waste, whether friable or non-friable, encountered during the demolition of structures must be removed and disposed of prior to demolition of the structure in accordance with proper asbestos disposal procedures. All asbestos waste whether friable or non-friable must be double bagged in order to be accepted for disposal at the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex (CCSWC). Asbestos waste will be accepted at the current tipping fee in effect plus a $135.00 per load administrative fee.
  2. Propane tanks are to be removed and delivered separately to the CCSWC.
  3. Oil tanks and 55 gallon drums are to be recycled. These items will not be accepted at the CCSWC.
  4. Metal piping, metal siding and roofing, stoves, heaters, hot water tanks, and other metal appliances are to be removed and recycled. These items will not be accepted at the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex.
  5. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning units, dehumidifiers and other appliances containing Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants will not be accepted at the CCSWC if mixed in a load with other construction and demolition debris.
    Appliances containing CFC’s will be accepted at the CCSWC if delivered separately in an un-damaged, up-right position.
  6. Cans of paint, aerosol cans and other containers containing liquids are to be removed and stored by the owner of the structure being demolished until the next household hazardous waste collection day where they may be delivered for disposal.
  7. Fluorescent lights and ballasts are to be removed and stored by the owner of the structure being demolished until the next household hazardous waste collection day where they may be delivered for disposal.
  8. Thermostats containing mercury switches are to be removed and stored by the owner of the structure being demolished until the next household hazardous waste collection day where they may be delivered for disposal.
  9. Telephones, television sets, VCRs, stereos, computers, monitors and other electronic devices are to be removed and stored by the owner of the structure being demolished until the next electronics recycling day where they may be delivered for recycling purposes.
  10. Tires are to be removed and delivered separately to the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex separately for recycling. A charge of $2.00 per car tire and $5.00 per truck tire will be assessed. These charges apply to car and truck tires with or without rims.

    Off-road heavy equipment tires will be accepted at the current per ton tipping fee.

    NOTE: Only tires originating in Cumberland county will be accepted at the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex
  11. Source separated concrete, bricks and blocks, if delivered separately, and contain no other debris will be accepted at the Cumberland County Solid Waste Complex at no charge.
