Scope:
The Cumberland County Improvement Authority (Authority)
has appropriated $300,000 dollars towards the 2009 Community
Environmental Enhancement Grant. This grant assists organizations
in preserving and improving the environment in Cumberland
County. Recipients will be provided with funding to conduct
activities related to the environment. Activities could
include such projects as, but not limited to, anti-litter
programs, recycling, air quality, water quality, solid
waste management, watershed management, preservation efforts,
environmental cleanup efforts to encourage preservation,
soil conservation, establishment of outdoor recreation
facilities by way of the reclamation of public lands by
a non-profit organization, improving storm water management
practices, and the purchasing of recycled material for
community enhancement and recreational projects.
Target Audience:
The program is focused on organizations, in Cumberland
County, that do not receive a majority of their funding
from public sources. The Authority will target community
groups, environmental groups, non-profit groups, faith
based organizations, service clubs, sportsman groups,
and organizations that do not have taxing powers.
Grant Procedures and Funding Criteria:
All interested parties must schedule a pre-application
meeting with an Authority representative to review the
application process and the scope of their project or
program. Grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from
$1,000 to $50,000 depending on the number and quality
of applications received. The application and grant fact
sheet are listed below.
