OCTOBER IS LITTER AWARENESS MONTH IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ: Reducing the amount of litter that finds its way onto our roadways, woodlands, and waterways is the mission of the Cumberland County Improvement Authority and the Clean Communities Program. Litter is not only unsightly, it can affect our community’s ability to attract business, industry, and tourism. In addition, litter can damage our precious water supplies and other natural resources.

October is Litter Awareness Month in Cumberland County and is a perfect opportunity for your business to get involved. Take the opportunity to clean up the area around your business, or to become involved as a volunteer in one of our Improvement Authority sponsored programs. Beautification efforts help build community pride and positively affect our environment.

In addition, staff from the Improvement Authority are available to conduct a free Waste Audit at your business. The audit will determine how and where waste is created during your daily operations, and how waste reduction activities can provide cost savings to your business. As part of the audit, the Improvement Authority will help you develop a plan in order to reduce waste and increase recycling participation.
