GET INVOLVED DURING LITTER AWARENESS MONTH

CUMBERLAND COUNTYNJ: One of the missions of the Cumberland County Improvement Authority and the Clean Communities Program it administers, is to focus on the beautification of our community. Beautification programs are important because they can help build community pride, promote neighborhood revitalization, and positively affect healthy economic development.

October is Litter Awareness Month in Cumberland County and is a perfect opportunity for you, your family, and your friends to get involved. Your participation will help encourage respect for our land and resources, beautify our environment, and encourage stewardship within the community.

There’s something for everyone to do around your neighborhood or at your school. Keep your yard clean and free of things that can blow into the street and become litter. When you put your trash out at home, make sure that the garbage can lids are on tight. If your school playground doesn’t have a litter basket, have your teacher ask the school to provide one.

Remember, in order to reduce litter we must all do our part. Always set an example of not littering, no matter where you are. Your help is critical to helping make our community cleaner, healthier, and safer.
