AUTHORITY TO HOLD SECOND HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY OF 2007

MILLVILLE, NJ: On Saturday, June 9, the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, in association with the City of Millville, the Landis Sewerage Authority, and the Cumberland County Utilities Authority, will sponsor the second Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Clean-up Day of 2007. Cumberland County residents may bring their household generated hazardous waste or their outdated electronic equipment to the Cumberland County Administration Complex on Route 49 in Bridgeton from 8:00am to 2:00pm.

“ We had a great turnout in Millville for the first collection day of the year,” said Dennis DeMatte, Jr., Cumberland County Recycling Coordinator. “Nearly 600 residents from throughout the County took the time to safely dispose of their household generated hazardous material and outdated electronics. We thank those who participated and look forward to an even bigger turnout in June.”

Cumberland County residents may dispose of their gasoline and kerosene, pesticides and herbicides, used motor oil and antifreeze, transmission fluid, car and lead acid batteries, household batteries, oil-based paints, turpentine and thinners, and other solvents free of charge. Residents are limited to 150 pounds or 20 gallons of material per trip. No small quantity commercial generators of hazardous material will be allowed to dispose of their waste during these clean-up days. No tires will be accepted.

In addition, residents may dispose of their outdated electronic equipment at either of the final two scheduled collection events in 2007. Electronic equipment which will be accepted includes computers, monitors, VCRs, keyboards, servers, terminals, telephones, laptop computers, televisions, printers, stereos, computer wire, and mouse controllers. Residents are limited to six computer units per trip.

Anyone with questions regarding the Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Clean-up Days may contact the Cumberland County Improvement Authority at 825-3700. If you are unable to attend the June 9 clean-up day, store your materials in a safe manner until the next scheduled collection day on September 15, 2007 in Vineland.
