REMOVE LIDS WHEN RECYCLING

Recycling is more than an environmental and economic issue, it is a part of our legacy to the next generation. Cumberland County residents are hearing this message. They are doing their part to make us one of the top recycling counties in the State, and are helping to preserve precious natural resources. But we can always do better.

One way you can help is to remember, when recycling, to remove caps and lids from glass and plastic containers with the Number 1 or 2 recycling symbol. The recycling symbol, which looks like a triangle with a number in the center, is normally found at the bottom of the container.

Dispose of the cap or lid with your regular trash. Be sure to rinse the container before placing it in your recycling bucket. Paper labels on the containers do not have to be removed.
