Completed in 1996, the Maxfield B. Wallen Fire and EMS Training Center provides Cumberland County fire, rescue, and law enforcement personnel with a facility for live action training. It was the first major capital improvement project completed by the Improvement Authority.

Third Fridays / Arts District - More Information

The Cumberland County Improvement Authority welcomes art lovers of all kinds to visit our office on 3rd Fridays to experience what Millville was like in the early 1900’s. The Authority recently renovated the old Millville National Bank building, located on the corner of Main Street (Route 49) and High Street. The public is invited to enjoy an evening of celebrating the arts every 3rd Friday from 6 pm to 9pm.

Click here for current show information.

Participate in the Third Friday Challenge!

Visit the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts, or any of the main galleries on High Street and ask about the Third Friday Challenge. Each Third Friday we have a check-off list with the names and addresses of participating galleries and businesses. Visit these locations and have your card initialed to qualify for a special drawing.

Bring your friends and family for an evening that everyone can enjoy. Browse the galleries, shop, grab a bite to eat and experience the revitalization that is happening in downtown Millville.

AMERICORPS NEW JERSEY
WATERSHED AMBASSADORS PROGRAM

The NJ Watershed Ambassadors Program addresses diverse environmental needs of the state by raising awareness about New Jersey’s watersheds. The purpose of the program is to improve water quality by exploring the relationships between people and the environment, nurturing community-based environmental activities and empowering residents to make responsible and informed decisions regarding their watershed.

Through this program, 20 AmeriCorps members are placed in watershed management areas across the state at host agency sites. Over the course of 1,700 hours, members assist the NJDEP in monitoring the rivers of New Jersey through visual and biological assessment volunteer monitoring programs. Members train community volunteers to participate in these monitoring programs. Through audio visual presentations, members provide information to community organizations and schools, in order to have an informed citizenry about water and watershed issues in New Jersey.
