HELP REDUCE STORMWATER POLLUTION

Pollution on streets, parking lots, and lawns is washed by rain into storm drains and then directly to our drinking water supplies and the rives, lakes, and oceans we play in. In fact, stormwater pollution is one of the greatest threats to a clean and plentiful future water supply.

As a resident or business of the in the community, it is important to know the easy things you can do to protect our water. By sharing the responsibility and making small, easy changes in our daily lives, we can keep common pollutants and litter out of stormwater.

You can do your part by limiting the use of fertilizers and pesticides and looking for alternatives when possible. The proper disposal of hazardous products, cleaning up after pets, disposing of trash properly, and keeping pollution out of storm drains all can make a difference. To learn more about stormwater pollution and what steps you can take to reduce it, visit www.njstormwater.org or www.nonpointsource.org.
