WATER CONSERVATION IS IMPORTANT

Water is essential to life on earth. We need water to grow food, provide power, control fires, and sustain life. If water is constantly being cleaned and recycled through the earth’s water cycle, why do we need to conserve it? The reason is that people use up our fresh water faster than it can naturally be replenished.

Saving water is good for the earth, our families, and our communities. When we use water wisely, we help the environment, preserve drinking water supplies for the future, and ease the burden on wastewater treatment plants. In addition, we save the energy that water companies use to treat and move the water to our homes and businesses.

Using water wisely means conserving it when we can and not wasting it. There are a number of ways to conserve water. For example, a family of four can save 200 gallons of water a week by turning off the water while brushing their teeth, and can save 100 gallons each time they wash the car by using a hose nozzle. Visit www.wateruseitwisely.com for more tips on water conservation.
